Spanish language film has a long history. The great Luis Buñuel was the most famous filmmaker in the early years of Spanish language cinema, producing several films from the 1920s to the 1970s. The Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar achieved international recognition from the 1980s onwards. Spanish language films are available to purchase or rent in all the recognised formats.
Spanish language TV programmes are perhaps an easier option for students who are learning Spanish. You will find recommendations below to suit a range of tastes. Try to watch the TV programmes with Spanish subtitles, if you can.

An amazing series, full of plenty of twists and turns throughout all of its five seasons. Each episode is like a movie in itself, with each character having their own charms that bring viewers closer to them as they follow their journey throughout the heist.

Esta serie me sorprendió porque espero el habitual "cliché". Los actores hacen un gran esfuerzo por deshacerse de esa forma de actuar, como más natural. La serie tiene un ritmo explosivo que hace que el espectador se sumerja en la historia, además la banda sonora es muy buena. Son excelentes las actuaciones de Daniel Grao como "Antonio Santos", Pedro Suárez como "El guardia de la prisión Molinos" y Antonio Mora como "Enrique". En definitiva, una muy buena serie que toca un tema muy sensible, pero que sigue siendo un ejemplo de las cosas que suceden en la vida real a medida que la trama va espesándose. Para mí, una de las mejores series españolas en Netflix, o si quieres clasificarla como "latinoamericana" por el uso de actores latinos.

In the first series, I really liked the main character, Teresa "la mexicana" because
she was very vulnerable, having embarked on a journey to become a very powerful woman in a man's world of drugs. It was full of action, lovely scenery and I think a good storyline, keeping your interest throughout all the episodes.
